A tale of two campaigns, nothing too serious. Part 2 Inifinity

So Infinity is my main game these days. For ITS season ten I'm playing OSSS, and have been winning more than losing which is a great feeling (except when you 10 - 0 your first opponent then get crushed by your second opponent in the game 0 - 10. Its happened twice now.)

As mentioned in my last post I had intended on playing TAK, but Operation Wildfire is dropping at GenCon and Shasvastii as well as O12 are calling and that means I can dedicate the TAK to my Fiancee, Pearl.

So with Daedalus Falls the campaign rules got upgraded to N3 spec and so shooting some ideas around with Obiwes this came about. This is an expansion to Daedalus Falls I totally realise that this totally far out of the box but this is what we are running, feel to swipe with credit to Obiwes and myself.

Players Pack/Bible Updated 20July2019

The Galway 5 Anomaly , an Infinity Campaign.

Galway 5 is a planetary body in the Paradiso system.

Prologue
Prior to Daedalus falling, rumours reach the great powers that an individual by the name of Kentar Mimbar on the Galway 5 planetoid in the Paradiso system has been prospecting for a mysteriously mysterious alien artefact. No records indicate that there has been any unauthorised alien activity detected on the planetoid previously.

This is obviously a Code Infinity situation. Small teams have been dispatched supervised by an elite spec ops agent to find Kentar Mimbar find out what they know and find the mysterious mystery alien artefact... Note tactical control in active search zones is the force's Lt as the spec ops will be looking for the answers.

All the factions have a stake in finding out what has happened and is happening here, and will earn Information objective points by playing games and “Gathering” Information, during a mission. As Information is gathered the story will unfold.

Commitment
1 game a month ish players behind may catch up. Players who are ahead cannot play a player that is behind them in the number of games with their own faction. Can play them using NP Factions, see below.

Non Player Factions
If the players are unable to fight each other, gm or designated persons will run the NP factions. Each NP faction will be allowed a spec ops and have the same Campaign xp to spend as the player faction.  Every player is encouraged to have a second list and/or army to assist the campaign.

Please refrain from meta gaming and sharing information discovered, as it will dilute the experience.

General Rules
This is a narrative infinity campaign.

All season 10 rules are in effect unless noted. All infinity narrative rules are in play, with the exception of mercenaries are allowed, with the exclusions for the factions listed on page 206 in Daedalus Falls. ie Macmurrough cannot be hired by Aleph and so on

Season 11 will be rules will be live when they become official later in the year. Around the 1st of September.

Any named character used in your force, that enters a null state will have to make Recovery rolls, as appropriate. Any named character that fails both medivac and cubevac rolls or fails to qualify for either medvac or cubevac roll is permanently dead and cannot be taken anymore in this campaign by your faction.

The campaign progression sheet has not been updated. Please refer only to Daedalus falls P222 or the back of Daedalus falls

Psy-ops level 3 modified if you spend points only on the free mercenary then the mercenary swc tax doesn't apply. Mercenaries with more than one figure are allowed to be bought in this manner in this campaign.

In the Logistics Specialty track the extra availability of troops (ava +1) can only be extended to your own faction, not the mercs NA2. The extra AVA cannot get a second Spec ops character but can get you a second warcorp.

Where the campaign points are spent are considered open knowledge to all players and the GM keeps a master list of points acquired and spent which will be updated and published after every game, as will the Warcorp Reports.

Warcorps

Warcorps have to be named and are considered named special charactersYou can spend campaign points on your warcorp from the NA2 list. If the warcorps dies permanently, the points are lost permanently like the Spec ops.

Extra Skill War corp only - Embedded 8 points changes the named Warcorp’s order from irregular to regular.

Units with any journalist skill that survive games give +1 to promotion per survived game up to a bonus +6 so after the seventh round of surviving they hit max. To give the bonus they must already have had the bonus on their character sheet at the start of the game.

If the Warcorps dies permanently, reset the bonus to plus zero. To get this bonus the player has to turn in a war corp report of said battle to the GM or post it on the facebook messenger group. Prior to the next mission.

They also use the same medivac, cube vac rules as other named characters. Yes you can have two War corps on form you faction list and one from the Merc List

Named Characters

Named Infinity Characters that are available to your faction but do not have Cubes can purchase one prior to a game for 1xp.

Spec ops

Spec ops are specialists in all scenarios in this campaign. As are Data trackers. No matter the scenario data trackers get the irregular order for its own use.

This cannot be command tokened into a regular order for anyone else to use unless the data tracker is apart of the fire team that uses the regular order.

Spec Ops only have 3 slots per category (Weapons Skills and Equipment) and cannot be swapped out, choose wisely. The only exception to this is if the spec ops has as upgradeable skills such as hyper dynamics level one, the spec ops can upgrade it hyper dynamics level two or three, without taking another skill slot but must pay the full cost of the upgrade and will not get refunded the points for the initial hyper dynamics.

Deciding scenario and location.
If not decided by pre agreement, both teams make a WP roll and winner get to choose location This separate and prior roll to the any of the normal game rolls.
More locations will be added as the campaign progresses

Information Objective points
The goal of the campaign is to achieve 40 information objective points.

Information objective points are scored by any missions objective points, which could conceivably gain information for the campaign’s goals in the context of the mission brief.

Connecting consoles, antennas, tech coffins, panoplies

Securing objective rooms, consoles, antennas, tech coffins, panoplies at the end of game

Immobilising specialists and Lts in the appropriate missions.

Killing data trackers in the appropriate missions. Spec ops will count as data trackers but not for the data tracker bonuses unless the spec ops is the actual data tracker, for awarding points for killing or capturing.

Non information objective points
Objective points awarded for controlling territory
Objective points awarded for killing enemy troops unless its for information See above rules.

If any dispute, GM has final say.

Where the red versions of the classified objective cards are used information objective points are doubled.

Locations
Faction home bases
Each player has a secret faction home base. The benefits of the home base are to gain 1 information objective point per round. Under normal circumstances the secret base cannot be attacked. UNLESS….

Factions that lose scenario with a major loss (five points or more) are unknowingly vulnerable to a home invasion. The winning faction will have a onetime only key to allow them to locate and attack a home base once.

Each army is only allowed key per opponent. Once the key is used the faction will have to acquire another key in the prescribed manner above. The key is still valid even if the bases is raided and the raided party moves their safe house.

If the secret base is raided this will interrupt the flow of the 1 information point a turn, for that turn only.

Second advantage of raiding an opponent’s base and gaining information objective points is gaining information from that faction. If the raiding force gets between 1-4 information points the force will get level all level one information the raided faction has up to that point.  If you get 5 or more information points you get all level two information as well, that the faction has up to that point.

Home team advantage, the defending force gets a free total reaction bot or equivalent chaxsar auxiliary or neurocenetics unit their choice. If the home team successfully pulls off extreme prejudice on the attacking spec ops, an Lt or data tracker they get all the attackers information up to that point.
Other Locations

Each non home base location has known small in game benefits and has unknown unique information that can be found at the location. Each location will have a choice of scenarios to choose from, flavourful for the location.

Information rewards are in two levels if you get between 1-4 information points you get level one information.  If you get 5 or more information points you get level two information as well. Conceivably both sides could get 5 or more information points and both sides would get all the information no matter who won the mission.

If a game is a tie on total objective points the deciding factor is the information points scored in that game instead of army total if still a tie then go to army points.

If the army data tracker or the character spec ops gathers at least one information point then they get a bonus one each if the spec ops is the data tracker then the bonus is not cumulative. This bonus cannot take you over the maximum ten objective points for a scenario.

You can swap any classified for Extreme prejudice in the same way as Secure HVT but it will only count for the data tracker and Spec Ops. You must announce to your opponent if you do this. If you complete the classified on either the spec ops or the data tracker them you get all the information that faction has prior to the start of the current mission.

If you get the classified Extreme prejudice initially and or get a double of it you may keep both to use on the spec ops or data tracker and any other qualified target. In this case, only one coup de grace can apply to the spec ops or data tracker.

It does not matter if the target subsequently survived post battle clean up.

All objective points either information or non-information count towards objective points that can be spent on campaign army benefits or the character spec ops.

Each faction has only one game per round. Players can agree to play each other at one location.

Phase one 2 rounds
Who what when where and sometimes why?
Locations to fight over round one. More locations will be added as the campaign progresses
Before your first game you must choose your first army specialisation.

Aside from Home base any location can be attacked by any faction even if it has been fought over in the current round/phase. The faction that wins the scenario holds the location aside from home base. If the faction holds the location until the end of the phase they discover the 5 point information if they already do not currently head have that information. If any other factions attack that location in the same round or phase then the winner of that game is considered the holder of the location, even if the current holder was not a part of the game. All winning factions get to use the benefit of the location once, even if they are no longer the current holder of the location.
Factions can hold as many locations as they can win. Though they cannot contest others fighting and winning the location, unless they want to fight at that location again in another round or phase.
Example
Player A wins the Spaceport location. Players B and C fight over the location in the same round, player B wins and then fights player A in the second round of the phase. Both players have access to the reward of the AD Airborne Infiltration in their game.

The short version
No matter if the objective points are normal objectives or information points they are still going to help you win the mission at hand. As well as upgrading your spec ops and team via the control board.

The trick is trying to keep your opponent for scoring information points as that will help their chances of winning the campaign as well as maximising your information points.

Helpful hints

Do take Baggage, doctors paramedics to help medi-evac your “mostly dead” characters.

The second (or third) Warcorps will help the cube vac of the primary Warcorp through the journalist skill (and any other Cube-vac cases).

My thought from the hill today is What do you think of wargaming campaigns?
